What to Look Forward to in Bakersfield this Year

Bakersfield is known to be a fun city. There are activities for the entire family all year-round. Thanks to the great warm weather in the area, people do not run out of things to do – both indoor and outdoor. Regardless of whether you are a resident or a visitor in the city, you will surely love the activities the city has in store for you.

Here are some of the scheduled events and festivals in Bakersfield this year:

For January, the city is serenaded by the Great 48 Hour Bluegrass Jam. It is a jamming event open to musicians from all walks of life. It is a great way to expose yourself if you are a musician; and an even greater way to appreciate music if you are a music lover. The Great 48 Hour Jam takes place during the 2nd week of January. It is held at the Marriott Convention Center on Truxtun Avenue.

February is not just strictly for lovers. Here in Bakersfield, we acknowledge our love for anything Wild West. Annually, we hold the Whiskey Flat days. It is one of the most popular festivals in Southern California. Although it is held in Kernville, most of Bakersfield residents make a big fuss about this event. There is an activity for each member of the family. Whiskey Flat Days have Carnival Rides, Frog Jumping Contests, Whiskey Flat Mayor Contest, Food & Craft Booths, Line Dancing, Pet Parade, Art Show, and many more.

In the 3rd week of March, the Bakersfield Fiesta livens up the city. This year, it will be held on March 20th to the 22nd. The event showcases square dancing of all styles. It attracts locals and out-of-towners for a weekend of dancing and fun.

April is an event-stricken month. Some of the notable events that happen in April are   Bakersfield Jazz Festival,  Country and Craft Beer Festival,  Macaroni and Cheese Festival, and many others. No matter what makes you happy, you will surely find something to enjoy during this fun-filled month.

May is equally interesting. There are a couple of festivals held during this month. For more active individuals, we have a bike festival. For those who love a good old traditional event, we have the Stampede Days Rodeo.

Imagine an all-in-one concert with your top favorite bands all together! That is what  Fake-A-Palooza  is. Every August, the top tribute bands in the country gather to honor the great rock stars in our lifetime.

The Kern County Fair is an event every September that you absolutely should not miss. It is part of a hundred-year-old tradition of people living in the area. There are rides, concerts, and contests for everybody joining in this one-of-a-kind experience.

We all know that the most-anticipated event in October is Halloween, and Bakersfield does it so well. In Bakersfield Halloween Town, both adults and children alike exert a lot of effort in finding the perfect costume. The houses are adorned with spooky decors. Halloween Town happens from October 2 to November 1. The event has several activities, such as face painting, trick-or-treat, bounce house, pumpkin cannons, and spooky cinema.

For November, prepare to indulge yourself in the  Bakersfield Bacon and Craft Beer Festival  and  Bakersfield Uncorked Wine Fest. It is the best time to call on friends and relatives to spend the night just bonding over beer and wine.

Bakersfield is just as sparkly as any other city in December. This town gives justice to how Christmas should be celebrated.
